We are the trade association for large pharmacy operators in England, Scotland and Wales. Our vision is that everyone, everywhere, can benefit from world class healthcare and wellbeing services provided by their community pharmacy.
Pharmacy First
Launched in January 2024, the NHS Pharmacy First service allows patients to be treated for seven common conditions without the need to visit a GP. The service is providing convenient access to primary care - 92% of eligible patients get the care they need within a pharmacy without the need for onward referral, a third of consultations take place outside of typical working hours, and almost a third are provided in the 20% most deprived communities. A fully-funded Pharmacy First service could free up 30m GP appointments each year, modelling by the CCA shows.
